FAQs for Visitors

No matter who you are, or where you are on life’s journey,
you are welcome here!

The Congregational Church in Exeter wholeheartedly welcomes you. We would love to 10897892_866766450042621_6423403681911911768_n
meet you, either in worship or at one of our other congregational activities. We believe you will find a warm and welcoming congregation that strives to serve all people, from our youngest children to our elders and all ages in between.

As an Open and Affirming congregation of the United Church of Christ we affirm all people, and families of all types. We are a church that believes “God is still speaking”, and we strive to listen and learn. Come and see why we love this church. There’s always room for more!

What Should I Expect When I Visit?:

Enter in through the red front doors of the church and you will be greeted by a deacon who will direct you up the stairs to the sanctuary. Before you go upstairs you can also stop by the Welcome Table and pick up our Welcome Booklet, a recent newsletter, and more. You can also drop-off your youngest children at our nursery, or sign an older child up for a church school class.

At the top of the stairs an usher will give you a bulletin. There is no assigned seating in the sanctuary, so sit wherever you feel most comfortable. Worship begins at 10am with a few minutes worth of announcements. We then sing, pray, and listen together. Worship lasts approximately one hour and includes a 15 minute sermon, a children’s lesson, fantastic music, prayers for our world and those we love, and more.  On the first Sunday of the month we celebrate Holy Communion and invite all to partake, regardless of church membership.

After worship we host a fellowship hour after church. Feel free to join us for coffee or refreshments. We also invite you to fill out a “Welcome” card if you would like more information on our church. (Don’t worry…we promise we will not show up at your door.) Please introduce yourself to Pastor Emily; she’d love to meet you.

Dress for Worship:

Our members wear everything from suits and ties, to shorts and jeans. We encourage you to wear whatever makes you comfortable. We believe God cares about our hearts, not our clothes.
