Welcome to the 2009 season of our music ministry. All the choirs will take a summer break after June 14. What follows is a brief outline of what will reconvene in September. Beverly Caldon has been the Music Director/organist at the church for thirteen years (interrupted by 18 years at UCC Keene). - The Heritage Ringers offer their tinkling sparkle to morning worship one Sunday a month, as well as at special holiday concerts and Christmas Eve. The choir makes music on 4 octaves of Malmark handbells and 2 octaves of handchimes. Beverly Caldon directs the group, which meets Tuesdays from 7-8:30PM.
- The Senior Choir welcomes experienced singers from high school age to maturity, with BASSES in particular DEMAND! The 30-member choir contributes to morning worship with a variety of sacred music from the Renaissance and Baroque periods to modern harmonies of spirituals and folk songs, a cappella, or accompanied by full organ or guest instrumentalists. Rehearsals are Thursdays, 7-8:30PM in the loft from September to June.
- The Praise Choir features the contemporary sounds of keyboard, guitar and singers from middle school age to adult.
- The sweet voices of the Cherub Choir include children ages 4 to grade 2. They arrive on Sundays before worship to ring the church bell, then practice for 15 minutes.
- The Rainbow Ringers (children's handbells) meet on Tuesdays from 6:15-7. Director Alison Hobbie.
__________ Music is central to the life of the Congregational Church in Exeter, UCC. In our worship, we offer a diversity of music, for and from all ages, to augment and enhance our worship services. Offered to the glory of God, it expresses the yearnings of our faith and consoles, strengthens, and deepens us for the living of our days.
We are blessed with a gifted and committed senior choir, a devoted senior bell choir, a contemporary praise choir for adults and young people, a cherub choir, and a junior bell choir. The church’s organ, a 1951 three-manual, 20-rank Aeolian Skinner, is one of the last examples of a company of American pipe organs known for liveliness and versatility. All of these, as participants in our worship, support the hymn singing of the whole congregation. And our singing of hymns brings us together as nothing else can.
Our church is strongly involved and invested in music and worship. It is filled with all kinds of musical talent, from hymn-singers to jazz players to folk guitarists to classical instrumentalists. We invite you to consider becoming a part of one of our musical groups, or to share your talent with us in some other way! If your interest in music leans to the administrative side, please see the Music Committee page. We offer four CoffeeHouse Concerts a year.
